It used to be just bonnets, bunnies and lots of chocolate, but Easter decorating is a much bigger deal these days. From tablescapes to Easter trees adorned with home made biscuits, here are my go-to tips for easy Easter decorating. My main rule is, it really doesn't have to be difficult.
CHOOSE A COLOUR THEME FOR YOUR TABLE - I love using my teal tie dye table linen as my starting point as it has lots of shades of green which gives an airy spring-like feel. It's a great base to then layer on my teal bubbles ceramic tableware.
BRING OUT YOUR BUD VASES - As Easter is towards the end of April this year, it may be a tad late for any spring bulbs planted in pots to still be in bloom, but bud vases filled with hyacinths, freesia and tulips will bring a splash of cheery colour and fragrance to your table or mantlepiece.
I love sticking to a pastel colour palette of sunny yellows, whites with a splash of lime and maybe the odd touch of powdery violet.
DO MAKE AN EASTER TREE - A few spriggy branches cut from the garden (or bought from a florist or garden centre) is all you need for the base. Here I've used quince blossom and placed them in my blue pitcher and tied on some decorated glass eggs and home made biscuits with long lengths of pastel satin ribbon.
Amazon is a great place to find rolls of ribbon. For this sort of thing, I'd choose 3 mm width ribbon which adds a delicacy when tying bows.
ADD A FEW LITTLE BOWLS OF SWEET TREATS - I love having lots of edible treats in my my small and medium flow bowls dotted around the table when entertaining as I think it's fun for guests to be able to tuck in to the display! Cherries or mini chocolate eggs are my favourite for a special Easter treat!
This adorable wicker bunny basket from John Lewis will make any little person very happy on Easter morning for the egg hunt.
Seagrass hurricane lanterns are having a moment, and I think these ones from Zara Home will make a chic addition for alfresco entertaining this summer.
I've long been a fan of Norwegian jewellery designer Marte Frisnes and I love her new butterfly necklace which is 24 k gold plated. It looks set to be one of my summer staples.
Melt chocolate in Notting Hill are running Easter Egg decorating classes this April. As well as learning about the history of chocolate and tasting the delicious Melt chocolate on offer you get the chance to create your own personalised chocolate egg guided by their chocolatiers - be it a Faberge masterpiece or something more simple. A fun experience for the family or group of friends.
